We are very proud to announce that CoDEStorm has achieved BSi ISO 14001 accreditation!

Environmental concern is becoming an increasingly important issue around the world, with pressure to minimise the impact coming from a number of different sources, such as governments, regulators, trade associations, as well as environmental groups. Caring for the environment is everyone's responsibility and it is one that CoDEStorm has taken to heart.

The ISO 14001 represents an internationally accepted standard that outlines how a business can implement an effective Environmental Management System (EMS). This standard is designed to address the delicate balance between maintaining profitability and reducing environmental impact.

For us, it is a way to demonstrate to clients our commitment to CoDEStorm's Environmental Policy, as well as our ability as a business to operate in full compliance with internationally recognised standards. Ethically, we also strongly feel that it is the right thing to do.

Our journey thus far has lead to many achievements that we're particularly proud of, within several key areas:

• During 2010, we managed to reduce the amount of general waste produced by the business by an astonishing 40%! This was achieved by using various methods, such as secure shredding, which creates additional recycled paper and cardboard. We also shred out of date brochures, leaflets and paper, which is then used as packing, therefore replacing the need for polystyrene 'snow'. CoDEStorm also has a Baler, which bales cardboard and polythene efficiently, ready for recycling.


• Thus far this year, we have been able to achieve a 0% rate of general waste to landfill. This was made possible by sending our general waste to the Energy Recovery Facility based in Portsmouth.


• Additionally, we are also on track to reduce our general waste during 2011 by a further 10%.


• We have also set a goal of reducing electricity use by 2% per employee by December 2011. As an effort to reach this target, we have also been replacing all old light fittings with energy efficient fittings and will extend this to our warehouse area during July 2011 as well.


• Did you know that CoDEStorm has a Biomass heater? This unit is able to burn waste pallets, (those damaged beyond use, for example) producing heat which in turn reduces the business's consumption of Gas.


• Working closely with our clients, we also aim to find the most effective packaging for products, not only ensuring sustainability but also making any job as cost effective as possible.



Following on from our accreditation, we remain fully committed to reaching and surpassing our environmental targets wherever possible.

CoDEStorm is extremely proud to be supporting our client, Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, forthcoming event - South Coast Proms! This spectacular event represents the South's premier musical event, offering a selection of classical, contemporary, military and mainstream music under the summer sky. This relaxed and fun 'picnic n the park' music event is set in the historic and picturesque setting of HMS Excellent on Whale Island, Portsmouth, the home of the Royal Navy. Every penny raised helps the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity to support former and serving sailors, Royal Marines, RFA personnel and their families.

CoDEStorm has assisted RNRMC with the event in many ways - from building a fabulous Web Site giving all the details of the event including online Tickets Sales, with the Merchandising team hard at work arranging various items available for purchase at the event, handling both Customer Service and staff 'on the day' to help it all run smoothly for all visitors.
